My experience working with Jumpstart as a Corps Member inspired me to grow as a person. Jumpstart helped facilitate leadership opportunities for me and also community engagement whenever I spent time with the children. Jumpstart also helped better my interpersonal skills whenever I worked alongside my team.

During my experience with Jumpstart, I most enjoyed getting to spend time with the kids in the classroom. No matter how stressed I am, getting to see the kids always makes me feel better. I would tell someone who is considering working with kids in the future to go for it! It’s important to have the patience to work with them and if that’s something you possess, I would 100% recommend it. What inspired me most about Jumpstart was the mission to ensure every child has equal access to education.

From the beginning, I enjoyed the connection made during team leader meetings. I also enjoyed how before we started session our supervisor answered all our questions as well as demonstrated how lessons should be done. I have benefited from the team leader meetings because it is a way for us to express our concerns as well as anything that we should improve on. I like how it is flexible and the supervisor works with your schedule. Lastly, I have benefited from leading a team and bouncing ideas off them.

Joining Jumpstart was such a great decision and I am definitely excited to continue the program for as long as I can. During Jumpstart, what I enjoy the most is being able to interact with the kids and noticing little differences between how the children think or play…We are there to help them practice and grow their skill sets and knowledge for them to start the first years of schooling.
